Prof. Omar Munyaneza is an engineer in Hydrology and Water Resources Management with a distinguished career spanning over 21 years of experience in hydrology, water resources management, water supply and distribution, environment and climate change. He holds a PhD in Hydrology and Water resource from UNESCO - IHE Institute for Water Education – Delft, Netherland. M.Sc., a M.Sc. in Water Resources and Environmental Management and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from National University of Rwanda. Prior to joining WASAC Group, he served the Chamber of Deputies as a Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the National Budget and Patrimony Committee in the Parliament. In addition to this, Prof. Omar has been a Lecturer of Hydrology and Water Resources Management at University of Rwanda (UR) in the Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering under School of Engineering, College of Science and Technology (CST). He is also a Senior Principal Research Fellow in Engineering and Technology Sciences to the Rwanda Academy of Science (RAS). He served the Government of Rwanda (GoR) as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Rwanda Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC Ltd) as well as Water Data Analyst in the World Bank’s programme on Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) for Water Accounts under the Ministry of Environment (MoE). He also coordinated the Nile Basin Capacity Building Network (NBCBN) for 10 years as Country Coordinator from 2008 to 2018.
Gisèle UMUHUMUZA has been serving WASAC Ltd as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of WASAC. She joined the Executive management of WASAC in April 2017 as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Prior to that, Gisèle served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of WASAC since July 2014 and worked as Research Officer in Rwanda Environment Management Authority since January 2011. She holds a Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering Management from Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh / Scotland) and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the National University of Rwanda. Her work experience is in Environment and Natural / Water Resources management and water utility services. She also teased the teaching profession for two years at the former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology as an Assistant Lecturer in the Biology Department – Faculty of Sciences.
Eng. Dominique MUREKEZI has been serving as the Acting Director of Water and Sanitation Development Directorate in WASAC since June 2021. He joined the organization in 2008 and has occupied different positions such as Planning Engineer till 2015 and Manager of Utility Planning Manager till 2018. He has also acted as Coordinator of Single Project Implementation Unity from 2018 to 2019 and Manager of Water and Sanitation Infrastructure Planning from 2019 to 2021. Prior to joining WASAC, he worked briefly in the private sector and then in the Academic field as Tutorial Assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Technology University of Rwanda (former KIST). He is a Civil Engineer by profession specialized in water and sanitation infrastructure development and management. He holds a Master of Philosophy Degree in Infrastructure Management obtained from Yokohama National University in Japan in 2015 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and Environmental Technology obtained from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology – KIST in 2008. He has wide experience in water supply and sanitation projects development and utility operations.
