During annual competition among Business entities in Rwanda, Rwanda Develpment Board(RDB) called all companies to bid for Rwanda Business Excellent Award 2019 and WASAC LTD was nominated in top three in the category of Skills Development Promoter of The Year.
WASAC's main Core Values are; Customer Oriented, Efficiency, Integrity, Innovation and Professionalism, applied and nominated among top 3 in categories of Skills development promoter of the year.
“We are proud and confident to be nominated for Business excellent awards 2019, in the category of Skills Development promoter of the year" declared Mr. Barigye George Director of Support Services and explained the above statement through the following reasons;
WASAC has developed internal capacity building plan for existing staff and was implemented in 2018 and 2019. As effective, in 2018 WASAC conducted capacity building workshops for 338 staff, and for 2019 conducted capacity building for 224 staff. It is planned to train 203 this financial year 2019-2020 with a budget of 50 million.
WASAC recruited seventy (70) paid professional internees in the field of Civil Engineers (11), Water Engineers (6), Hydraulic engineer (4), Electromechanical engineer(6), Environmentalist (4), Quantity survey (3), Topographic engineer(4), Automation engineer (4), Mechanical engineer (3) Socio-economist(3), Geographical information system(4), Construction management(3), Sanitary Engineer (2), Accountant(3), Audit(2), Finance(2), Procurement(2), Project management(2) Legal(2). Each of them was paid monthly net allowance of 170,000 Rwf.
In addition to those paid, WASAC accommodated other 35 not paid but professional internship, all of them were mentored and supervised daily by professionals from field work to office.
Each and every year WASAC makes a call for professional and part time internships in different fields namely Finance, Engineers, Auditors, Law, There are some staff that are recruited from these internship programs, mainly in Finance department as well as Engineering field, Some internees got engagement from other institutions.
The event held on Friday, January 31 at Kigali Convention Centre and out of more than 180 companies applied for the 2019 RDB Business Excellence Awards, RDB recognized businesses that stood out in 2019.
According to RDB, the awards are aimed at acknowledging and celebrating efforts made by local companies in promoting a sustainable and prosperous economy.
