31 WASAC staffs have concluded training on Project Management for Professional (PMP)

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification stands as a gold standard for professionals across the globe when it comes to project management certifications. Irrespective of whichever industry one belongs to, the PMP credential is universal. 

On the 29th November, thirty-one staff among others from Water and Sanitation Corporation concluded 5 days PMP exam preparation training to gain complete understanding of handling a project from the initiation stage to successfully closure. They hailed the effort of WASAC Ltd to improve on their skills in project management. Six of WASAC staff who completed the PMP in the first phase are fully certified by PMI and were awarded their certificates at the closing function.  

Samson Hategekimana, one among other officials in WASAC who is PMP fully certified said that, with skills gained in this training they managed to embrace the theory to practice in project management. ‘’We managed to know more how the project is prepared, how a project starts, how it is concluded successfully with no mistakes.’’ Said Samson Hategekimana, a Certified PMP Professional

‘’We learnt a lot in Project management for professionals. We assure you that we will pass exams to be fully certified in this domain of project management, and you will see improvement in WASAC’s performance.’’ said Eugene Ndahiro, one of trainees in PMP training in phase 2.

The PMP certification course is ideal for anybody who is looking to master the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) which is a set of standard terminology and guidelines for project management and take their Project Management career to the next level.

Founder and 1st president of Project Management Institute from (Rwanda Chapter) Mr. Jean-Jacques Dushimiyimana, said that they have already embarked on engaging Rwandan institutions to invest more resources in training their staffs in Project Management Professional in order to upgrade their institutions to the next levels.

 ‘’If any project manager comes back in his/her institution, most of the time because of that environment he breaks all the habits, be it you have a certificate or you don’t yet have it, as you are trained as PMP you can make change in your institution.’’ saidJean-Jacques Dushimiyimana, Founder and 1st president of Project Management Institute, Rwanda Chapter.  

Project Management Institute, Rwanda Chapter unveils that in last two years Rwanda had only twenty PMP Certified individuals but now counts almost a 100 PMP Certified in this field around the country.

Director of Support Services in Water and Sanitation Corporation Mr. George Barigye, commended this training conducted in partnership with the University of Technology, Tourism and Business in Rwanda (UTB) and said this training brings hope in improving in the areas in Project Management in Wasac. He urged WASAC staffs to prove the difference.

The cost of the training for the two phases offered for 31 staffs coasted WASAC nearly 70 Million Rwanda said Chrissy Head of Career Development and Performance Management Unit. The Training was organized by WASAC through its Unit in charge of Career Development and Performance Management.
